BOSTON – The Suffolk women's tennis team is bound for a GNAC showdown Saturday, Sept. 28 as the Rams head to Simmons for a 12:00 p.m. conference clash.

LAST TIME OUT
In its fourth straight road match, the Suffolk women's team was at the wrong end of a 6-3 GNAC decision against St. Joseph (Conn.) Saturday afternoon at Hall High School.

RAMS REVIEW 
Suffolk looks to snap a three-match skid that put the Rams at 1-8 on the year and 1-3 in conference contests. 

Alyssa Blade has been the most successful singles player. She boasts a team-best 3-6 singles record exclusively in Suffolk's fifth spot in her first collegiate season. Ilda Ascic has played all nine matches as the blue-and-gold's ace and boasts a 2-7 record.

Ascic teams up with her co-captain Kendall Smith as Suffolk's top tandem. The sophomores sit at 3-6 on the year and 2-2 in league outings from the first doubles court.

SHARKS SAYINGS
Simmons has strung together 8-1 triumph sover Albertus Magnus and Curry to move to 4-6 overall on the 2-2 in conference contests. 

The Sharks singles has seen two difference aces in Nickie Nguyen (2-6) and Marissa Johnson (1-1). The latter sports the best singles mark for Simons at 4-2, playing on the top two courts with a 3-1 ledger in the second slot.

That tandem has teamed up for as the top tandem the most frequently for the Sharks and hold a 2-4 record at No. 1. Leah Bonis and Carrie St. Peter, meanwhile are unbeaten (2-0) in their pair of appearances, splitting time on courts two and three, respectively.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Since 2000, Suffolk has met Simmons 25 times and trails the all-time series 3-22.
  • Last season, Suffolk defeated Simmons for the first time since 2007, 7-2.
