Women’s Tennis Set for a 13 Matches in 2019

2019 SUFFOLK WOMEN'S TENNIS SCHEDULE

BOSTON - The 2019 Suffolk women's tennis calendar is made up of a baker's dozen contests spread out over two months, head coach Steve Counihan announced Monday morning. 

September features the bulk of the Rams' slate with 10 matches being played over the four weeks with just a trio of contests on the October calendar. 

Three home matches get the year going with the season opener set for Thursday, Sept. 5 against Wentworth. From there, GNAC action begins against Colby Sawyer Saturday, Sept. 7 and the homestand wraps up Monday, Sept. 9 against Roger Williams.

Suffolk swings on the road for the first time of the year Wednesday, Sept. 11 with a midweek match at Rhode Island College on the calendar. It's right back home from there when the Rams tangle with Bridgewater State Thursday, Sept. 12. 

A four-match road trip begins Saturday, Sept. 14 at Albertus Magnus with trips to Regis (Sept. 18), Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Spet. 21) and UMass Boston (Sept. 26) on the calendar as well. 

The first month of action concludes at home with a conference clash against Simmons Saturday, Sept. 28. 

In the final month of play, the Rams will be on away from for the first two outings with visits to Johnson & Wales (Oct. 5) and UMass Dartmouth (Oct. 10) on the docket. 

Suffolk returns to Beantown for the regular season finale and Senior Day Saturday, Oct. 12 against Eastern Nazarene.

The Rams lineup, which will be back under longtime head coach Counihan, has three returners from a year ago, all hailing from the sophomore class in Ilda Ascic, Jordan Miller and Kendall Smith. Suffolk will get help this season from some fresh faces in sophomore Brooklyn Peters and first-years Alyssa Blade and Bianca Prescott
