Women’s Tennis Earns Fifth Seed in 2018 GNAC Tournament

GNAC Release

BOSTON –After defeating Simmons for the third time in program history and first since 2007, the Suffolk women's team locked up the fifth seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament.

The Rams capped off their regular season 5-8 overall and 3-4 against their conference counterparts to clinch the fifth seed.

Conference newcomer Colby Sawyer won the regular season with an unbeaten 7-0 mark in league play, while first-year affiliate member Eastern Nazarene, who's only loss came to the Chargers, also earned a first-round bye.

GNAC Quarterfinal action begins this Wednesday, Oct. 17. The defending champion Johnson & Wales secured the three seed this season and entertains sixth-seeded Simmons, while Suffolk heads to No. 4 Regis.

In the first battle between the Rams and Pride, the blue-and-gold fell, 7-2. The foes will meet for the first time in the league's postseason.

Suffolk makes its 11th consecutive conference championship appearance and second as the fifth seed. The Rams have advanced to the semifinals on seven occasions, including the past five seasons, but never as the fifth seed. Suffolk has made a pair of championship appearances in 2007 when the blue-and-gold raised the conference crown and again in 2009.
