Women’s Tennis Falls to Bridgewater, 6-3

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – In its first of three matches of a three day span, the Suffolk women's tennis team was setback by Bridgewater State, 6-3, Thursday afternoon at Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk's second spot team of senior Elena Cisnors Garcia and freshman Kendall Smith put the Rams on the board to open the match with an 8-4 victory over Bears' duo Angelique Gray and Madison Butkus. Bridgewater scooped up wins on the first and third court, however, to gain a 2-1 lead in the match heading into singles play. 

The Bears stretched their lead to 3-1 with a win at No. 6 before Meagan French trimmed the margin in half behind a 6-3, 7-5 decision over Emily McGrath in the fifth position. 

Bridgewater went on to take courts four, two and three to seal the victory. 

With the match already clinched for the Bears, Delaney Dunlap bested Emma Mills, 6-4, 6-3, on court one for the final 6-3 margin.

LOOKING AHEAD
Suffolk is back in action tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 14 when it lifts the lid on its GNAC schedule against Albertus Magnus. The conference clash is set to begin at 4 p.m. at North Reading High School.
