NORTH READING, Mass. – The Suffolk women's tennis team found itself in the win column for the first time in 2017 as the Rams took down Wentworth, 6-3, Thursday night at North Reading High School.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk grabbed a 2-1 lead after doubles play. The Leopards gained the first point of the night as Ali Sollecito and Ellen Butts took down Isabel Rathlev and Elena Cisneros Garcia, 8-4, on court one. From there, Suffolk seal up two points with Meagan French and Jacquelyn Nakamura besting Sam McGibbon and Mackenzie Jones, 8-6, on court three, before Delaney Dunlap and Keely Hardy downed Caitlyn Briggs and Sam Webb, 9-7, in the second spot. 

Wentworth and Suffolk traded points in singles action and the match tied, twice. First Briggs defeated Rathlev, 6-4, 6-0, to equalize the match at 2-2. A 6-2, 6-1 win over Jasmina Andrade by French in the fifth position put the Rams back in front, 3-2. 

The lead was shortlived, however, as Sollecitio registered a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Dunlap in the top spot to even things at 3-all. 

Hardy put the blue and gold back in front once again and for good as she downed Butts, 6-3, 6-2, on court four. Medou sealed up the win for the Rams as the sophomore registered a 6-1, 7-5, win against McGibbon on court six. 

With the match already won for Suffolk, Cisneros Garcia made it a 6-3 Suffolk final with a 6-3, 6-4, win over Webb from the third position. 

NOTEWORTHY

• Suffolk picked up its fourth consecutive win over Wentworth.
• The win marks the first with Matt Tiberii on the bench as head coach of the Rams. 
• Hardy registered her first singles victory as a Ram. 

COMING UP
Suffolk closes its homestand Saturday, Sept. 23 as it opens GNAC action versus Mt. Ida. First serve at North Reading High School is scheduled for 12 p.m.
