Women’s Tennis Hosts Roger Williams in Home Opener

BOSTON – Suffolk women's tennis entertains Roger Williams Monday, Sept. 11 in the Rams home opener, which opens a four-match homestand for the blue-and-gold. First serve at North Reading High School is set for 6 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk women's tennis team dropped its season opener at Rhode Island College by a 9-0 decision at the RIC Outdoor Tennis Courts Sept. 5.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Since falling to the Anchormen in its season opener, Suffolk took a week off from competitive competition and returns this evening looking for its first win of the season and the Matthew Tiberii era. 

Freshman Delaney Dunlap anchored the Rams in the season debut as the blue-and-gold's ace in single play and teamed up with senior Isabel Rathlev as Suffolk's top tandem.

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HAWKS
Roger Williams has four matches under its belts with the Hawks winning three including an 8-1 victory over Suffolk's conference counterpart Simmons. In its most recent outing, Roger Williams defeated Gordon, 6-3, Saturday. 

Kathryn Hughes (0-3) and Julia Akerman (0-1) have each taken time as the Hawks ace, however, neither racquet has earned a victory in singles play in the top spot. Akerman boasts a 2-1 ledger in the second spot with Gabrielle Riley boasting the best singles' mark at 4-0 in the fifth and sixth spots, respectively. 

In doubles, the Hughes and Akerman partnership are unbeaten, 4-0, on the first court.

Suffolk's homestand continues Thursday, Sept. 14 as the Rams entertain Bridgewater State at 4 p.m.
