The Johnson & Wales University Wildcats topped the Suffolk University Women's Tennis team in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Monday evening by a 7-2 score.
Sophomore Aidiana Sagyndykova (Almaty, Kazakhstan) won her 10th match of the season in singles play as she topped the Wildcats' senior Samantha Jo Borr (Westfield, N.J.). Sagyndykova won both sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-4 in the number one singles game.
Junior Lyndsay Reese (Saco, Me.) was Suffolk's lone other victor on the evening as she took the number four singles game in back to back tiebreakers with a 7-6 win in set one and 7-5 win in set two.
The Wildcats improved their overall record on the year to a 10-1 mark and 4-1 record in GNAC play.
Johnson & Wales swept all three doubles contests to start the evening.
Jo Borr and sophomore Morgan Thompson (Fargo, N.D.) took game one by an 8-0 score.
Thomspon was one of four Wildcats' players to earn multiple victories on the evening for Johnson & Wales as she also took singles game number two over senior Adrianna Garrett (Plymouth, Mass.) with scores of 6-2 and 6-0.
Senior Gabrielle Longo (Philadelphia, Pa.) and junior Emily Glass (Sterling, Conn.) took the second tandem game as they were 8-3 winners.
Longo also won the fifth singles game in with a 10-7 tiebreaker in set two after taking the first set by a 6-4 score.
Freshman Taylor Klein (Johnson, N.Y.) and senior Stephanie Piperis (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) won the third partners game as they put together an 8-1 win.
Later in the evening Piperis would earn a victory in the number three singles game by scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
Klein rounded out the field for the Wildcats as she was a 6-1, 6-0 winner in the sixth singles game.
Johnson & Wales will now round out their regular season on Saturday when they host Albertus Magnus College at noon in GNAC action.
Suffolk will wrap up on Wednesday when they host Emerson College in non-league action at 5:30pm.
