Women's Tennis Rolls Past Johnson & Wales, 5-2

Providence, RI -- The Suffolk University Women's Tennis team pushed their GNAC season record to 4-0 as they defeated the Johnson & Wales Wildcats, 5-2 on Monday afternoon. The game was rescheduled from Saturday's rainout and was suspended in the eighth game due to darkness.

Sophomore Lauren Cameron (Kingston, Jamaica) continued her dominance as she won consecutive sets, 6-0, 6-0 in the two position in singles play over Katelyn Fenton. Cameron and partner Alexandra Hernandez-Vallant (Newton, MA) were also victorious in doubles play as they won 8-4.

Sophomore Kelly Conrad (Lanstahl, Germany) picked up two more victories for Suffolk. Conrad won her singles match, 7-5 and 6-2 in the three spot over Tammy Sanders. Conrad partnered with junior Katelyn Paquette (Southbury, CT) for an 8-4 win in doubles play.

Freshman Celia Contreras (Caracas, Venezuela) picked up the Rams' fifth win in singles play as she was victorious 7-5, 6-2 in the fifth spot for Suffolk.

The Rams will be back in action on Wednesday in a battle of unbeatens as they host defending GNAC Champions Simmons College at 6:30pm.
