Four Seniors to Lead Women’s Soccer as Captains in 2021

BOSTON – Suffolk women's soccer has been under the leadership of its four-member Class of 2022 as Julia HuntJackie KellyCarley Pearce and Allison Rodrigues were tabbed captains by head coach Ashley Van Vechten prior to the 2021 campaign kicked off.

Rodrigues is the only returning leader as she was named a tri-captain as sophomore in 2019, while Hunt, Kelly and Pearce are in their first stint in the role.

The foursome has led the blue-and-gold to a 5-2-0 record through seven games this season and a 1-1-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) ledger. All outings this season have been determined in shutout fashion thanks to the gloves of senior keeper Rodrigues. She has backstopped the Rams to each of their victories and holds a league-best 0.57 goals against average and save percentage .900, respectively.

Kelly has been an ingredient to the Rams' back line as well, while Hunt and Pearce have added sparks on the offensive end.

Suffolk is set to be back in action tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 30 in a rescheduled matchup against Fisher. First kick is set for 7 p.m. at East Boston Memorial Park's James A. Sartori Stadium.
