EAST BOSTON – St. Joseph's (Maine) scored the game winner with one-minute left on the clock to down Suffolk women's soccer, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Brenna Smith slipped a pass through two blue-and-gold defense and found Haley DeGraca right in front of Suffolk's net. With Allison Rodrigues drawn over to cover Smith, DeGraca took advantage of the opportunity to put the Monks on the board in the 29th minute.
Caleigh O'Brien evened the score seven minutes later. The sophomore dribbled down the right-side line and snipped a beauty from the 25-yard line to lock the conference contest at 1-all.
St. Joe's had an opportunity to break open the tie halfway through the second stanza, but stand up defense by Melissa Adamo, while Rodrigues was misplaced kept the tied ball game intact.
With overtime looming the Saints struck as one-minute remaining was announced in Eastie as McKenzie Murphy lifted the rock over Rodrigues reach for the 2-1 margin.
KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS
- Rodrigues turned away six shots in the setback.
- Adia Grogan had a day with an eight-save effort.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- The Monks held a 20-14 edge in shots overall, but the Rams had the upper hand in shots on frame with 9-8.
- Suffolk had the only corner of the contest.
NOTEWORTHY
- O'Brien scored the lone goal for Suffolk, her seventh of the season.
