Women’s Soccer Meets Mt. Ida Saturday

BOSTON – The Suffolk women's soccer team makes the short trip to Newton, Massachusetts, Saturday, Sept. 23 to battle GNAC foe Mount Ida at Alumni Field at 2:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's soccer took a one-goal lead after the first 45, but could not hold off Simmons in the second stanza as the Sharks used two strikes over a 10-minute span to take down the Rams, 2-1, Wednesday night at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk has had to strike late to take down its opponent with its first victory coming off a goal with 37 seconds remaining in regulation at Rhode Island College with its second came in overtime at Regis. The 2-3-0 Rams, who sit 1-2-0 against conference competition, look to put a complete game together Saturday. 

The Rams' late offense has only been able to find the back of the net six times through five games this season with freshman Caleigh O'Brien responsible for a pair of markers. Seniors Jennifer Martin, Erika Nelson, Alexandra Nagri and Paola Ortez have each put away on goal for Suffolk this season. Martin and Nelson each sit second on the squad with three points apiece thanks to their one score and one handout. 

Julia Fieldsend and Kirsten Weiker have split time in net for the Rams. Fieldsend holds team-highs in goals-against average (2.64) and save percentage (.824), while Weiker sports a 3.29 goals-against average and a .710 save percentage. Each of Suffolk's netminders has one victory to their credit.

MUSTANGS MENTIONABLES
Mt. Ida has slipped in its last two outings, a 2-1 setback at Albertus Magnus and a 3-1 loss at St. Joseph (Conn.) to enter Saturday's showdown at 4-3-0 overall and 1-3-0 in league action. 

A trio of Mustangs have each potted three goals in Bailey Elliot, Shannon Kelley and Lacey Perry. Perry paces the pack with eight points thanks to two assists, while Elliot and Kelley each sit second on the team with seven points with one assist apiece. 

Mt. Ida's three-headed goaltending contingent has each taken the pitch this season Annamarie Seiler has seen the most time with the sophomore keeper boasting a 1.07 goals against average and a .828 save percentage. Kyla Bragg meanwhile brings in a 2.00 GAA and a .667 save percentage in a pair of appearances with Kelsey Parkin rounding out the trio with three appearances of relief effort.

INSIDE THE SERIES

• Suffolk leads the all-time series versus Mt. Ida, 7-1-2.
• When playing on the Mustangs' home field, the Rams are 3-1-1.
