Women's Soccer Play To Second Straight 2-2 Tie

The Suffolk University Women's Soccer team and the Saint Joseph's College (Me.) Monks played to a 2-2 tie on a rainy Wednesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville.

Freshman Jessica Harmon (Hungtington Beach, Calif.) netted a pair of goals for Suffolk who failed to hold off a late surge by the Monks as the game ended in the Rams' second consecutive 2-2 draw.

After a scoreless first half that saw minimal offensive action, Harmon put in the game's first goal on a corner kick in the fifty-eighth minute of the contest.

The freshman forward would strike again in the game's sixty-ninth minute as she broke away past the Monks' defense coming in all alone to tally her team leading third goal of the season.

The Monks would rally scoring a pair of unanswered goals in a four minute span to round out regulation knotted at 2-2.

Junior Hannah LeBlanc (Andover, Mass.) would strike first when she knocked in a rebound from senior Kim Jordan (Bangor, Me.) to cut the deficit in half in the eighty second minute.

Jordan would then even the game at two goals in the eighty sixth minute when she struck for her third goal of the year following a lead pass from sophomore Desiree Parent (Westborough, Mass.).

In the first overtime the Monks would force senior goalkeeper Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) to make a pair of saves as she finished the evening with 11 total in the contest.

Suffolk would have the only scoring opportunity of the second overtime when senior Katharine Cote (Attleboro, Mass.) was stopped by freshman Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.). Suffolk would later put off a pair of shots in the closing two minutes of the contest but both would go wide of the net.

Troup would make 13 saves in the tie for the Monks who move to a 5-5-1 overall record. Troup's biggest save of the contest came in the first half when freshman Alexandra Nagri (Salem, N.H.) was awared a penalty kick. Nagri decided to go straight at Troup who stopped the shot.

The Monks will look to improve on their 2-1-1 conference record on Saturday afternoon when they travel to the University of Saint Joseph for a 1:00pm GNAC match with the Blue Jays.

Suffolk (2-5-2, 1-1-2 GNAC) will host Mound Ida College at 4:00pm in GNAC action over at Somerville's Dilboy Stadium.
