Melissa Brouillette Named GNAC Goalie of the Week

Suffolk University Women's Soccer sophomore Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week on October 22.

Brouillette and the Rams snapped the 13-game unbeaten streak of the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays on Saturday with a 2-0 victory in GNAC action. Brouillette made five saves in the contest to stop the Blue Jays, who entered the game with the best record in GNAC and were ranked as the number 10 team in Division-III New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

The shutout was Brouillette's third of the season. She currently ranks second among GNAC goalies with 120 saves on the season and is fifth in the league stopping shots at an 82-percent clip.

In 30 career games for Suffolk, Brouillette has recorded 12 shutouts averaging 7.4 saves per game as she has a 13-14-1 record in goal for the Rams and a 1.43 goals against average.

Suffolk will round out the 2012 regular season with a home GNAC contest against Anna Maria College. The GNAC Tournament will begin this weekend with the time and opponent to be determined. Suffolk enters their final game with a 5-10 overall record and 5-6 mark in league play.
