Brouillette Shines In Women's Soccer Setback

The Suffolk University Women's Soccer team dropped their regular season opener 2-0 to the Lesley University Lynx on Friday afternoon at Dilboy Stadium.

Sophomore Melissa Brouillette (Shelton, Conn.) was outstanding in goal for the Rams making 14 saves on the afternoon, but the Lynx offense was too much for the Rams as they put out 16 shots on goal in the contest controlling much of the offensive tempo throughout the ninety minutes of play.

After a scoreless first half, sophomore Alexis Giusti (Meridian, Calif.) netted the first goal of the season for the Lynx as she put in a header in front of the goal off of a feed from senior Jamie Coyne (Mansfield, Mass.) in the game's 53rd minute.

Lesley University would add some insurance twelve minutes later as freshman Melinda Robinson (Plano, Texas) scored her first career collegiate goal unassisted.

Sophomore Emileigh Lloyd (Middletown, Pa.) stopped all three shots she faced to earn the shutout.

Lesley University will be back in action on Sunday afternoon as they square off with the Mount Ida College Mustangs at 1:30pm. Suffolk will host Gordon College in non-conference action on Thursday evening at 7:30pm.
