BOSTON – Suffolk women's hockey splits up its weekend with Commonwealth Coast Conference battles against the University of New England and Nichols on tap. The Rams will salute the troops in a Military Appreciation Game Friday, Feb. 2 versus the Nor'Easters at 6 p.m. at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink before battling the Bison in Harrisville, Rhode Island, Saturday, Feb. 3 at 4:40 p.m.

SALUTE THE TROOPS
Suffolk men's and women's hockey will skate in honor of those who have and are serving the armed forces with Military Appreciation Games next weekend, Feb. 2-3 at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink

Ram Nation's Salute to the Troops begins with the women's contest Friday, Feb. 2 at 6:00 p.m. against the University of New England, with the recognition contests set to wrap up with the men's action Saturday, Feb. 3 at 5:00 p.m. versus Nichols.

Both Suffolk squads will wear special-edition military jerseys during pre-game skate and in the CCC contests. Ram Nation has a chance to take home a piece of Suffolk history by purchasing the game-worn jersey for $100. The proceeds of the sales will benefit 22Mohawks, an organization to reduce suicide rates among veterans created by Suffolk men's cross country alum and former Army Staff Sergeant David Campisano, BSBA '19.

LAST TIME OUT
Two unanswered Golden Bears goals in the third period pushed Western New England past Suffolk women's hockey, 3-1, Saturday night at the Olympia Ice Center.

SUFFOLK SCORES

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk has split its last two home-and-home series with Curry and Western New England to sit 5-14-1 on the year and 4-8-1 in CCC play.  

Jenna Caballero has powered the offense, which has seen every skates besides its goalies record a point, through 20 games. The sophomore has 11 points behind four goals and seven assists. Liliana Moose is on the verge of breaking the double figure point line with nine points to her credit with seven helpers and a pair of strikes. Katie Newkirk (4g, 4a) and Alessia Di Silvestro (4g, 2a) have found the back of the net four times apiece to share team-leading numbers with Caballero.  

In net, Lily O'Neil has taken on the bulk of the workload. Through 14 games played, she has assembled a 2.35 GAA and .922 save percentage. 

NOR'EASTER NOTES
UNE took a break from CCC competition last week as it battled Bowdoin in non-conference action Tuesday, but fell to the Polar Bears, 5-1, to move to 7-9-3 on the year. In league play, the Nor'Easters are 6-3-3.  

Both Piper Desorcie (7g, 5a) and Lainie Lemieux (5g, 6a) have surpassed the double-digit point plateau to power UNE's 38-goal offense.  

Delanie Corcoran is UNE's go-to goalie. In 16 games played, 15 starts, she has put ogether a 2.00 GAA and .933 save percentage with a 6-6-3 record and a pair of shutouts. 

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk and UNE tangled in a home-and-home series Dec. 1-2. The Rams and Nor'Easters skated to a 1-1 stalemate in Biddeford, Maine Friday with the blue-and-gold taking the extra point via shutout. The next day in Eastie UNE skated by Suffolk, 2-1.

EYES ON THE GAME

BISON BREAKDOWN
Nichols has fallen in six straight to hold a 7-12-0 overall record and 1-12-0 CCC record. The Bison's only win in league play came at then-No.15 Endicott, 2-1 in overtime Nov. 3, 2023.  

Grace Wiggett's 10 points on six strikes and four set-ups leads the Bison's 30-goal offense. Anneliese Klein has added seven goals and two assists to the scoring unit that has received seven points from Ema Jaskova (5g, 2a). 

McKenzie Muir is Nichols usual netminder. She holds a 2.73 GAA and .915 save percentage in her 15 appearances, all starts. 

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk swept Nichols in a home-and-home series Nov. 10-11. The Rams defeated the Bison 3-2 on the road, before shutting out Nichols in Eastie.
