2023-24 SUFFOLK WOMEN'S HOCKEY ROSTER
BOSTON – Fresh off its first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, the Suffolk women's hockey team has added a talented recruiting class to help the Rams repeat. The 12 fresh faces feature six true freshmen and six transfers.
"Although we have a bit of a target on our backs from last year in winning the CCC regular season and postseason championship, there are so many new people (including myself) that we basically have a new team," first-year head coach Abby Ostrom said.
The group is broken down to 10 forwards in freshmen Alessia Di Silvestro, Aiden Levee-Oshior, Anya Nichipor, Bella Schmidt, grad students Sydney Fascetta and Kellie Popkin, junior Maddie Gagliano and sophomores Ashley Bialas, and Katie Newkirk. Two have added depth at the blue line in freshmen Cassie Borowski and Jenny Drevitch with sophomore Izzy Buckett a new option in net.
Ostrom continued, "Luckily, the 12 newcomers transitioned seamlessly in joining the returning eight student-athletes; collectively we started to create a championship culture and we are excited to see what this season has in store for us."
With the dozen newcomers, Suffolk's squad holds 20 student-athletes for its sixth varsity campaign that is just two days away with the season opener on tap on Friday, Oct. 27 at No. 13 Utica at 7 p.m. The contest is a part of the Utica Kick-Off Tournament with the Rams' Saturday, Oct. 28 opponent either No. 6 Adrian or No. 12 Elmira based on results from game one.
