Women’s Hockey Falls Short at No. 4 Adrian, 3-1

ADRIAN, Mich. – A pair of unanswered goals by No. 4 Adrian over a 30-second span in the third period broke a 1-all tie to hand Suffolk women's hockey a 3-1 loss Saturday afternoon at Arrington Ice Arena.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | No. 4 Adrian 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (9-5-0) | No. 4 Adrian (12-1-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a tight first frame, that saw Suffolk outshot the Bulldogs, 12-11, Adrian erased its zero from the board 1:16 into the second. Lily O'Neil was peppered with back-to-back shots. The junior managed to scoop up the first two, but the third, off Maya Roy's stick, slipped past her to give the host a 1-0 edge.

Suffolk made up the one-goal gap 10 minutes later when Sam Molind chipped the puck past Sophie Goldberg on her glove side. From behind the cage, Jesse Kennedy found Molind diving in front. Molind took the puck from Goldberg's stick side and scored while falling over to level the playing field at the midway point of the middle period. Cassidy Gruning assisted on the Rams' strike.

The playing field remained level late into the third period. The Bulldogs got the upper hand at the 12:53 mark when it went on the power play when Kennedy was whistled for goaltender interference. Less than a minute with an extra-skater, Jocelin Hudanish put away the eventual game-winner with help from Tia Lascelle and Une Bjelland. Karmen Anderson added insurance for the Bulldogs 30 seconds later to stretch the distance to 3-1.

Despite their best effort, the Rams were unable to figure Goldberg out again and the 3-1 score stood at the end of regulation.
