EAST BOSTON – Eleven Rams helped Suffolk women's hockey tie the program record for goals scored in a game and take down Nichols, 10-1, Friday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink

HOW IT HAPPENED
It may have taken Suffolk awhile to get going, but once the Rams started scoring, they didn't stop. The host poured in four pucks over a 5:21 span starting at the 13:39 minute mark of the middle period. Jesse Kennedy jump started the rally with back-to-back goals less than two minutes apart. Miranda Gaudet and Shana Cote followed suit with markers of their own to give the blue-and-gold a comfortable 4-0 cushion at the second intermission. 

In the third Suffolk picked up where it left off and started scoring again just over a minute into the final frame. Five unanswered markers came over a 6:55 span to extend the Rams advantage to 9-0. This time Sofia ScilipotiSam MolindJenna CaballeroElise Wainwright and Gaudet found the back of h tenet to push the margin to nine

Grace Wiggett eliminated the shutout as she broke the Bison on the board with help from Taylor Breen at the 8:04 minute mark. 

As time dwindled, Scilipoti struck for the second time on the day with 1:30 remaining in regulation to restore the nine-goal margin, which matches Suffolk's largest victory in program history. 

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Lily O'Neil recorded 24 saves. 
  • Julia Caroll had 27 stops in the setback. 
  • Mckenzie Muir took over the net with 15:16 to go in the third. She had five saves in her relief effort. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Gaudet paced Suffolk's point scorers with a five-point stat line on two goals and three assists. 
  • Wainwright registered four points on one marker and three helpers. 
  • Cote and Molind both logged three points on identical one-goal, two-handout performances. 
  • All three of Madison Duff's points came behind set-ups. 
  • Kennedy and Scilipoti both netted two goals. 
  • Caballero chipped in one goal. 
  • Gruning, Liliana Moose and Natasha Savage each supplied one assist. 
  • Suffolk outshot Nichols, 42-25. 
  • The Rams capitalized on both of their power plays. 
  • The blue-and-gold skated off both of their penalties. 
  • Suffolk won the face-off battle, 36-23. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk tied the single-game record of goals scored with 10. 
  • The Rams goals potted 10 goals for the second-time in program history, first since a 10-3 triumph over Curry, Nov. 13, 2021. 
  • Both of the blue-and-gold's 10-goal offensive outputs have come at Suffolk's home ice, Porrazzo Rink. 
  • The nine-goal margin of victory ties the program record. The last time Suffolk has defeated a team by nine goals with a 9-0 shutout of Anna Maria Nov. 14, 2018. 
  • The 10 goals scored are the most by the Rams in a single-game against Nichols. 
  • The Rams are now unbeaten in the last six meetings with the Bison. 
  • The blue-and-gold has defeated Nichols in five straight meetings to improve to 5-2-1 all-time against the Bison. 
  • At home, Suffolk is 3-1-1 against the Bison. 
  • Suffolk has yet to fall to Nichols in a CCC contest, 4-0-0. 
  • Suffolk has outscored Nichols, 35-19, all-time, including a 18-7 margin in the last five outings.

  • Gaudet is the first Ram to have five points to her credit since Cote notched five in one goal and four helpers in a 10-3 offensive onslaught of Curry, Nov. 13, 2021. 
  • Cote extended her point streak to 13 games in 11 goals and 16 assists. 
  • Gaudet (2g, 7a) and Gruning (3a) each prolonged their point streak to three games. 
  • Duff (4a), Scilipoti (4g, 1a) and Wainwright (1g, 4a) pushed their point streak to two games. 
  • Kennedy (3 goals) has scored goals in back-to-back games.  
  • Duff dished out a career-high three assists. 
  • Gaudet had a personal-best in points (5) and goals (2) and tied a career-high three-assist effort. 
  • Caballero scored her first collegiate goal. 
  • Molind set a personal-high in assists with a pair of helpers. 
  • Kennedy and Scilipoti tied a career-best in goals with two apiece. 
  • Wainwright, who netted her first collegiate goal, set a career-high in points (4) and assists (3). 
  • Savage matched a career-best in assists with one each. 
  • Moose had her first collegiate point, an assist.
