BOSTON – The sixth-seeded Suffolk women's hockey team will make the trip to third-seed Johnson & Wales Saturday, Feb. 22 for a NEHC Quarterfinals clash at Lynch Arena at 4 p.m.

GAME 1: #8 Salem State at #1 Norwich – 3 p.m. 
GAME 2: #7 Plymouth State at #2 Castleton – 4 p.m. 
GAME 3: #6 Suffolk at #3 Johnson & Wales – 4 p.m. 
GAME 4: #5 UMass Boston at #4 Southern Maine – 4 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's hockey snapped a four-game skid at just the right time as the Rams skated past Plymouth State, 5-1, in the regular-season finale Saturday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Rink.

RAMS REVIEW
Suffolk secured the sixth seed in the NEHC tournament after going 8-7-1 against conference counterparts. Overall, the Rams compiled an 8-14-3 record.  

Maddy Burton and Shana Cote have provided the one-two punch offensively for the Rams. Burton has a split 20-point stat line between 10 goals and 10 helpers, while Cote has found the back of the net 11 times and set-up eight scores. Haley Poloskey has also hit the double-figure point plateau with 11 to her credit behind 11 handouts and four goals.  

Julia McLellan has played the bulk of time in between the pipes. The freshman holds a 3.24 GAA and .898 save percentage through 19 games played. Kristen Caporusso has also assembled a .898 save percentage over 10 appearances to go along with a 2.52 GAA. 

SUFFOLK IN NEHC TOURNEY

  • Suffolk makes its second straight NEHC post-season appearance. 
  • The Rams enter the field as the sixth seed for the first time. 
  • The blue-and-gold will play on the road in the NEHC Tournament for the first time. 
  • Suffolk is in the hunt for its first-ever win in the NEHC Tourney. 

WILDCAT WAYS
Johnson & Wales wrapped up the regular-season 11-10-4 overall and 8-5-3 against GNAC opponents.  

Hannah Tracy and Kathryn Mason power the Wildcats' 64-goal offense. Tracy has netted a team-best 16 goals to go along with eight assists. Mason, meanwhile, has 20 points on 10 markers and 10 set-ups.  

Jasmine Mucci is JWU's go-to goalie. She brings in a 2.91 GAA and .9216 save percentage in 17 games played.  

WE MEET AGAIN

Suffolk and Johnson & Wales each picked up a win in the pair of regular-season matchups. 

The Wildcats won first, a 2-1 decision in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, November 23, 2019, while the Rams put in eight goals and Kristen Caporusso saved all 28 shots she faced for the shutout.

The winner of Saturday's showdown continues on the quest for NEHC glory. After the decisions are in the book this weekend the conference reseeds the field with the lowest remaining seed venturing to the highest remaining seed and the other two foes battling in the second semifinals.
