BOSTON – Suffolk women's hockey concludes 2019 with a pair of NEHC home games this weekend as Southern Maine and New England College make their way to Eastie. The Rams will first welcome the Huskies Friday, Dec. 13 at 4:45 p.m., followed by the Pilgrims visit to Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Rink the next day, Saturday, Dec. 7, with puck drop scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Meagan MacNeil became the first player in program history to score a hat trick, which anchored seven unanswered Rams goals to that throttled Suffolk women's hockey past Salem State, 7-3, Saturday night at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Rink

RAMS RUNDOWN
After Suffolk's come-from-behind 7-3 victory against Salem State Saturday, Dec. 7, the Rams sport an overall record of 3-8-2 and are 3-3-1 in NEHC action.  

Maddy Burton and Shana Cote have led the offense this season with nine points apiece. Cote leads all scorers with five goals along with four assists, while Burton has set up six goals and found the back of the net on her own on three occasions. Haley Poloskey follows the pair with four goals and two assists for six points. 

Julia McLellan and Kristen Caporusso have split time in net this season. McLellan brings in a 3.27 GAA and a .892 save percentage through 11 appearances, nine starts, while Caporusso holds a 2.81 GAA and .886 save percentage in five games played. 

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HUSKIES
Southern Maine comes to East Boston after a midweek 2-0 victory over Bowdoin Tuesday night that boosted the Huskies to 4-7-0 overall. Against conference competition, USM is 3-4-0.  

Mikayla Butkus and Julianne Nelson lead the Huskies in points with four each. Butkus' stat line is all handouts with a team-best four from the blue line, while Nelson has three set-ups and one strike herself. Shannon Colbert has added three goals to the offense and shares third on the squad in points with Shannon Douglas, who has set up two shots and scored one herself. 

Whitney Padgett has spent the majority of time in-between the pipes for the Huskies. She brings in a 2.10 GAA and a .926 save percentage.

  • Suffolk holds a 1-0-1 advantage in the all-time series with Southern Maine. 
  • Last time out against the Huskies the Rams played to a 1-1 OT stalemate Feb. 1, 2019 
  • Suffolk's last win over USM came in the form of a 3-0 shutout Dec. 1, 2018 at Louis E. Porazzo Memorial Rink.

PILGRIMS POINTS
New England College is still searching for its first point of the season with a 0-10-0 mark and a 0-8-0 league ledger. Prior to Saturday's semester-ending battle at Suffolk, the Pilgrims host Johnson & Wales Friday night.  

Tara Turcotte has scored two of the Pilgrims four goals this season, while setting up one other with Cortney Reyes and Madison Nipper responsible for the other half of NEC's scoring. Kayle Cross has helped the most offensively with two helpers.

In net, Cianna Weir and Sean D'urso have each seen time on the ice. Weir holds 4.91 GAA and a .894 save percentage, compared to D'urso's 3.05 GAA and .919 save percentage.
