Women’s Hockey Concludes Non-Conference Action at Becker Tuesday

BOSTON – The Suffolk women's hockey team, who is receiving votes in the latest D3Hockey.com Poll, will wrap up its non-league action Tuesday, Jan. 15 when it travels to Becker. Game time at the Fidelity Ice Center is set for 7:05 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Sierra Donaue's first career goal on a power play with 2:44 remaining in regulation led Suffolk women's hockey past the University of New England 2-1 Saturday afternoon at the Harold Alfond Forum.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk swept UNE in a two-game series to hit the 10-win mark of the season. The Rams head into Tuesday's tilt 10-5-1 overall. 

Tess Adams' anchors Suffolk's 47-goal offense with the senior forward holding a team-high 20 points on a team-best nine goals and 11 helpers. She is joined in double figures by a quartet of skaters in Shana Cote (8g, 7a), Jesse Kennedy (6g, 6a), Payton Dockus (6g, 4a) and Madison Duff (1g, 9a).

Kristen Caporusso has held down the backstopping responsibilities for the blue-and-gold this season. The sophomore goaltender holds a 1.63 GAA and a .933 save percentage with five shutouts to her credit.

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HAWKS
Becker opened the New Year with a home-and-home series with USM. The Hawks were setback by the Huskies in both outings to slip to 1-11-3 on the season. Becker's only victory of the year came over Anna Maria, 7-0, Dec. 4, 2018. 

A trio of skaters have racked up eight points this season in Clare Conway (3g, 5a), Claudia Gee (4g, 4a) and Michaela Martin (2g, 6a) to led the Hawks' 24-goal offense.

Julia Johnson and Madison Rigsby have split time in between the pipes, each playing eight games. Rigsby brings in a 2.79 GAA and a .923 save percentage, while Johnson boasts a 3.66 GAA and a .908 save percentage.

  • Suffolk opened the Becker series with a 4-3 victory in Eastie over the Hawks Nov. 9, 2018. 

WE MEET AGAIN

Suffolk and Becker will battle for the second time this season. In the first meeting, the Rams scored a pair of goals in a five-minute span in the third period to break open a 2-all tie and take down the Hawks, 4-3, Nov. 9, 2018.

RECEIVING RECOGNITION
After its series sweep of the University of New England, Suffolk women's hockey picked up a vote in the Jan. 14, 2019 edition of the D3Hockey.com Women's Top 10 poll.

NEHC GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
For the third time this season, Kristen Caporusso of the Suffolk women's hockey team was tabbed NEHC Goaltender of the Week after backstopping the Rams to a 2-1 week.

LOOKING AHEAD
Suffolk turns its attention to the second half of NEHC action, which is set to begin this weekend when the Rams hosts Castleton and Salem State at Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink. The Spartans first stop by Friday, Jan. 18 for a 6 p.m. battle with the Vikings scheduled to visit Eastie the following day, Saturday, Jan. 19 for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
