Women’s Golf in First After Day 1 of NWGC Championship

REXFORD, N.Y.– Suffolk women's golf is in the driver's seat after day one of the Northeast Women's Golf Championship Saturday at The Edison Club.  

The Rams shot a 333 to top the nine-team field. Tomorrow will be a tight competition as SUNY Cortland is right on the blue-and-gold's heels, just four strokes behind Suffolk in second.

Ellie Yarbrough is in the individual medalist race as the senior currently shares the top spot with Alex Tomasso with a first-round 78 (+6). 

Ella Torsleff is making the most at her first NWGC Championship as well as the sophomore sits fourth with an 82. 

Isabel Smith is currently tied for sixth with an 85 and Brooke Bugajewski shares eighth with an 87.  

Sophie Kiley rounded out the Rams on the par-72 course with an 83, good for a share of 17th. 

Day 2 action gets underway tomorrow, Sunday, April 28 at 12:00 p.m.
