Women’s Golf Sweeps NWGC Weekly Awards, Again

NWGC PLAYER OF THE WEEK RELEASE | NWGC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK RELEASE

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the second time this season, Suffolk women's golf took home both weekly awards for the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) as Ellie Yarbrough was named Golfer of the Week and Brooke Bugajewski grabbed Rookie of the Week, the league office announced.

The laurels come after the duo performances at the pair of one-day conference eventsat the Tekoa Country Club in Westfield, Massachusetts, a Par 71, 5,597-yard course – NWGC Fall Invitational and NWGC Fall Classic – both of which Suffolk won.

Yarbrough took third at the NWGC Fall Invitational after firing an 80, one stroke behind a pair of first-place finishes. A day later, at the NWGC Fall Classic, she shot a six-over par, 77, to claim individual medalist honors.

Bugajewski, meanwhile, finished eighth on Saturday after recording an 87. On Sunday, she placed third with an 11-over-par 82.

Since making her program debut, Bugajewski has been a staple in the NWGC weekly awards, earning a weekly recognition each week she has been active. Throughout her career she has a pair of rookie of the week nods and one player of the week accolades. With three weekly awards, Bugajewski is the most decorated student-athlete in regards to weekly awards.

Yarbrough, meanwhile, collected her first weekly nod this year and first since being named the league's Golfer of the Week April 20, 2023. Yarborugh is the third Suffolk player to pick up the best golfer over a seven-day stretch joining Bugajewski and Isabel Smith, who earned the feat Sept. 22.

Suffolk's five weekly accolades this year mark a program-high, surpassing the four set by the 2022-23 squad.

The Rams return to action this weekend, Oct. 14-15, at the NEIGA Championships at the Captains Golf Course at Brewster, Massachusetts.
