Bugajewski Grabs NWGC Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After claiming last week's rookie honors, Suffolk women's golf freshman Brooke Bugajewski was selected the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced late Tuesday night.  

Bugajewski became the first player in Suffolk women's golf history to produce a hole in one on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Keene Country Club where the Rams bested Keene State in dual action 336-467.  

The rookie golfer that hails from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan finished third overall after carding an 18-hod score of 83, one stroke behind Suffolk senior captains Isabel Smith and Ellie Yarbrough, who shared medalist honors.  

The Rams claimed the first five individual spots in the head-to-head with the Owls in the foes first-ever dual meeting. 

The weekly recognition is the second of Bugajewsi's career as she earned NWGC Rookie of the Week a week ago. This season Suffolk has claimed three weekly nods from the NWGC as Smith was selected the best player over a seven-day stretch last week as well.  

Suffolk will be back in action this weekend when it heads to Shaker Farms Country Club in Westfield, Massachusetts, for a pair of one-day events. On Saturday, Sept. 30 the Rams will compete in the NWGC Fall Classic with the NWGC Fall Invitational on tap Sunday, Oct. 1.
