Women’s Golf Sets Record Again, Takes Second at Ithaca Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. – Suffolk women's golf shot an 18-hole record each day at the Ithaca Invitational at the RaNic Golf Club to claim second in the six-team field.

Less than a week after rewriting their 18-hole team record, the Rams did so again on day one of the Ithaca Invitational with a 326. Suffolk shaved 10 strokes off that score on day two to put together a squad-high 18-hole mark once again. With a two-day card of 642, the Rams were 15 strokes behind invite host and winner Ithaca (627).

Westminster (665) claimed third, while the blue-and-gold's Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) counterparts SUNY Cortland (676) and St. John Fisher (705) in finished fourth and fifth, respectively. St. Lawrence (731) rounded out the field in sixth.

Senior Isabel Smith led the way for the Rams. The captain upstaged her day one 79 with a 74 on the second day on the green for a total of 153 to claim fourth.

Ellie Yarbrough was two spots behind her classmate and co-captain in sixth with a 159.

Sophomore Ella Torsleff and Brooke Bugajewski, who made her collegiate debut, shared 11th with a 165, to complete Suffolk's point earners.

Senior Sophie Kiley took to the links in the Empire State as well and finished in the middle of the 40-golfer pack with a 174.

Suffolk looks to continue its record-setting ways next Saturday, Sept. 23 when it battles Keene State in a head-to-head match at the Keene State Country Club.
