BOSTON – Suffolk women's golf's eighth season gets underway this weekend, Sept. 9-10 at the Polar Bear Shootout at the Brunswick Golf Club in Brunswick, Maine.

RAMS REWIND
Suffolk's seventh season featured a third-place finish at the NWGC Championship and an eighth-place performance at the NEIGA Championship.

Suffolk's five-player rosters is comprised of three returners, seniors Sophie KileyIsabel Smith and Ellie Yarbrough, and a pair of newcomers in transfer Ella Torsleff and one true freshman Brooke Bugajewski

A pair of Rams are from Massachusetts, Sophie Kiley and Isabel SmithBrooke Bugajewski brought her talents to Beantown from Michigan, while Ella Torsleff and Ellie Yarbrough hail from Montana and Oregon.

RAMS RINGLEADERS
Just over a week away from competition, head coach Jay Parker announced that the senior threesome of Sophie KileyIsabel Smith and Ellie Yarbrough will share leadership responsibilities in 2023-24 as tri-captains.

COACH'S CORNER
Jay Parker has been the one and only head coach of Suffolk women's golf since the program began in 2016-17 and returns to the helm for his eighth season in 2023.

In his seven seasons, Parker has coached the Rams to a three NEIGA titles and has seen student-athletes shine individually. Under his guidance, the program has produced one Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC) individual medalist, two NEIGA individual champions, nine All-NWGC honorees, a dozen All-NEIGA selections and two All-Empire 8 nods.

Parker will be aided with an assistant coach as former standout Nicole Antonucci returned to the Rams in a coaching role for her third season.

LIFT THE LID

  • For the first time since 2021-22 and fourth time in Suffolk women's golf history, the Rams will tee off in a two-day competition for the first outing of the campaign. 
  • In 2018-19, the Rams began the year with fifth-place finish at the William Smith Invitational before taking second at the Hudson Invitational a year later. To get 2021-22 going, the blue-and-gold compiled an 11th-place performance at the Hamilton Invitational.  

THE COURSE
Nestled in the heart of the midcoast Maine, the Brunswick Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course whose origins date back to the late 1800s. 

Suffolk will compete at the Brunswick GC for the first time in program history.

Next weekend, the Rams take their talents to Ithaca, New York for the Ithaca Invitational.
