Women’s Golf Takes Fifth at William & Smith Invitational

CLIFTON, N.Y. – In its third season opener, the Suffolk women's golf team combined to finish in the middle of the pack at the William & Smith Invitational over the weekend at the Clifton Springs Country Club.  

All four Rams finished in the top tier of the 56 golfers to combine for a 737, good for fifth overall in the field of 10 teams. Hamilton claimed the two-day event's title with a team card of 650, 24 strokes ahead of runner-up SUNY Cortland.  

Individually, Brooke Chapman anchored Suffolk's the pack. The sophomore upstaged her day-one card of 97 with an impressive day two score of 83 for a total 180 to land just outside the top-10 in sole possession of 12th.  

Co-captains junior Aine Dillon and senior McKenzie McGrath tied for 17th. Dillon shot 96 on the first day of the course and put up an 88 on the second day to finish with a 184, while McGrath recorded a 92 on both days of play.  

Sophomore Nicole Antonucci shared 22nd place with a 189 with a day-one score of 97 and a day-two total of 92.  

The Rams are back in action this weekend as it travels to the Mt. Holyoke Invitational in South Hadley, Massachusetts, at The Orchards Golf Club.
