DeAngelis Selected NEWBA Second-Team

NEWBA RELEASE

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Suffolk women's basketball's senior Amanda DeAngelis was named to the New England Women's Basketball (NEWBA) Second-Team, the organization announced Thursday morning.

The regional recognition marks the second straight for DeAngelis. She is the lone player from Commonwealth Coast Conference institution to take home the feat. A year ago, she became the second-ever Ram to receive the regional award, joining Jenni-Rose DiCecco on the list. With a spot on the second team this season, she is the first Ram in program history to receive a pair of all-region team selections from the organization. DiCecco holds the program mark of three with a 2017-18 NEWBA Rookie Team, 2018-19 All-NEWBA Third-Team and a NEWBA Senior All-Star Game all on her resume.

The honors are not the first postseason accolades for DeAngelis this season. She became the first Ram in Suffolk women's basketball history to garner CCC Player of the Year and was an All-CCC First-Team selection.

DeAngelis' distinctions come after a season in which the Londonderry, New Hampshire product put together the fourth-most double-doubles in NCAA Division III and averaged 17.9 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. At just 5-foot-10, the forward was one of the region's biggest threats on the boards with CCC-best numbers in every rebounding category including 7.4 defensive caroms per outing and 4.4 offensive boards per contest. Those numbers sit among the top 20 nationally and top five regionally. In addition to her scoring supply and rebounding abilities, she added 2.35 steals, 2.8 assists and 1.2 blocks per game.

Over the Rams 25-game regular season schedule, DeAngelis contributed double figures in scoring 20 times with eight 20-plus point performances and a career-best 32-point output in an 82-76 overtime victory at Endicott Jan. 27, 2024. In that thrilling triumph over the Gulls, she became the 18th-member of Suffolk's 1,000-point club and 13th Ram to surpass 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

With DeAngelis as a main ingredient, Suffolk compiled its fourth 20-win season, first since 2017-18, and the Rams first-ever CCC Semifinal appearance.
