DeAngelis Tabbed NEWBA Weekly Second Team

NEWBA RELEASE

NORTH HAMPTON, Mass. – Amanda DeAngelis of the Suffolk women's basketball team was selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Second Team of the Week, the regional organization announced.

The laurels come on the heels of a 2-0 Rams week in which the blue-and-gold ran its week streak to seven games, its most victories in a row since rattling off 10 triumphs together Nov. 27, 2017-Jan. 25, 2018. DeAngelis was instrumental to the pair of wins last week – a 72-62 decision over Hartford and an 88-79 win at Nichols – as she averaged a double-double of 25 points and 15.5 rebounds per game.

In the first victory of the week over Hartford, the senior poured in 27 points to go along with 12 boards, six takeaways, a career-high two blocks and two helpers.

At Nichols Saturday, DeAngelis put together her fifth straight double-double with 23 points and 19 caroms. She added four assists and four steals.

The weekly accolade is the third consecutive and fifth of the year for DeAngelis from the NEWBA. It is the second straight week she was tabbed to the NEWBA honor roll. Overall, she has been on the regional honor roll four times and was NEWBA Player of the Week once. Suffolk now has eight honors from the NEWBA this year. DeAngelis is responsible for five, while Lauren Romito owns a pair and Jordan Moreau was NEWBA Rookie of the Week Nov. 28.

DeAngelis and the Rams are back in action tonight with their regular-season road finale at the University of New England. Tip-off of the Commonwealth Coast Conference clash is set for 5:30 p.m.
