DeAngelis Secures Second Team NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll Spot

NEWBA RELEASE

NORTH HAMPTON, Mass. – Amanda DeAngelis of the Suffolk women's basketball team secured a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association's (NEWBA) Team of the Week, the regional organization unveiled. The senior captain was selected to the second team after she anchored the Rams to a 2-0 week with 18.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game.

The Londonderry, New Hampshire product opened the week with a 22-point, 16-rebound double-double with four takeaways, one set-up and one swat in the 66-53 win over Western New England Wednesday, Jan. 31.

Three days later in the 55-36 triumph at Wentworth, DeAngelis finished with 14 points, 10 caroms, four handouts and three blocks. She went 6-for-9 from the field in just 14 minutes of action.

DeAngelis had put together double-doubles in the last four games to have 15 to her credit this season and 31 in her collegiate career.

The weekly accolade is the second straight and fourth of the year for DeAngelis from the NEWBA. A week ago she was tabbed NEWBA Player of the Week and prior to today's recognition she has been on the honor roll on two other occasions, Nov. 15 and Nov. 28. Suffolk now has seven honors from the NEWBA this year. DeAngelis owns four, while Lauren Romito received a pair and Jordan Moreau was named NEWBA Rookie of the Week Nov. 28.

DeAngelis and the Rams are back in action tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 6 against Hartford at 5:30 p.m. at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.
