DeAngelis Tabbed CCC Co-Player of the Week

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk women's basketball's senior captain Amanda DeAngelis garnered Commonwealth Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week after averaging a double-double of 27.0 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in a 2-0 week for the Rams, the league office announced Monday. DeAngelis shares the weekly distinction with Western New England's Emma Novajasky.

In the 91-59 win over Gordon, the forward from Londonderry, New Hampshire, put together a 22-point, 12-rebound, six-assist performance.

On Saturday at Endicott, DeAngelis had a milestone day. She entered the game 15 points shy of 1,000. She hit that mark in the second quarter on a free throw to become the 18th Ram to eclipse the feat in program history and 13th Suffolk women's basketball player to surpass 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in their career. She went on to finish the 82-76 overtime Suffolk win with a career-high 32 points and 13 boards.

DeAngelis is the third Ram to be honored by the CCC this season and second to capture the league's best player over a seven-day stretch title, joining Lauren Romito, who has earned the honor twice, Nov. 20 and last week, Jan. 22. Overall this year, Suffolk has scooped up seven weekly accolades from the CCC with Jordan Moreau earning four CCC Rookie of the Week nods.

Suffolk and DeAngelis are back in action this Wednesday, Jan. 31 when Western New England stops by Larry E. and Michael S. Smith for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
