WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Suffolk women's basketball slipped to Hartford, 67-58, in non-conference action Wednesday night at Chase Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams shot 26.7 percent from the floor in the first 10 minutes, which ended in a 12-all stalemate.
A four-minute scoring lull by Suffolk in the second stanza allowed the Hawks to leap ahead. Freebies by Jordan Moreau ending the scoring draught for the Rams, but back-to-back Hartford hoops sent the blue-and-gold into the locker room down five, 27-22.
Suffolk trailed by as many as nine, 36-27, with 4:46 left on the clock in the third period. Aisling Crowley ignited a 10-0 Rams run that was capped off by a trifecta from Olivia Verdile that pushed Suffolk in front, 37-36, at the 2:06 mark.
Hartford went on to outscore Suffolk 5-2 the rest of the third quarter to hold a 41-39 edge as the game headed to the fourth.
Lauren Romito converted a trip to the free throw line to two points that sent Suffolk in front, 46-45, with 6:33 remaining in regulation.
A five-point swing in the Hawks favor caused by a Suffolk turnover gave the host the upper hand, 51-46, at the midway point of the fourth frame.
Hartford maintained the upper hand the rest of the way thanks to shooting from behind-the-arc and taking care of business at the line to hand Suffolk a 67-58 setback.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Romito registered a 14-point, 14-rebound double-double with five blocks, two steals and one assist o her credit. She went 8-for-10 at the charity stripe.
- Colby Guinta and Jordan Moreau supplied 12 points apiece.
- Crowley contributed an all-around night of nine boards and seven points.
- Suffolk shot just 30.4 percent (17-56) from the floor and 28.6 percent (6-21) from 3-point land.
- The Rams 78.3 connection rate (18-23) at the line kept the team in the game.
- Suffolk outrebounded the Hawks, 41-38.
NOTEWORTHY
