Romito Named CCC Player of the Week

BEVERLY, Mass. – Lauren Romito of the Suffolk women's basketball team collected Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week honors after her performance in the Rams' 65-57 win over Eastern Nazarene, the league office announced Monday.

Romito contributed a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double in the victory over the Lions. The forward from Hauppauge, New York, shot 5-for-7 from the floor and 6-for-8 from the line and added three blocks and a pair of assists in the triumph. Her Suffolk career-high in points, field goals made, free throws made and rebound pushed the blue-and-gold to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2015-16.

The graduate student has posted a double-double in both of the Ram's games this season en route to earning CCC Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. Romito is the first Suffolk student-athlete recognized by the conference with a weekly award since Amanda DeAngelis was named the CCC's best player over a seven-day stretch Jan. 9, 2023. The weekly accolade is the second of the season for the Rams as DeAngelis garnered a spot on the New England Women's Basketball Association's (NEWBA) Weekly Second Team Nov. 15 for her performance in the season debut.

Romito and the Rams return to Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 21 when they welcome Salve Regina to the basement of the Ridgeway Building for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
