SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Suffolk women's basketball's Gabriella DeComo and Jenni-Rose DiCecco have been named participants to represent the Rams at the 2022 New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic Game, the organization announced. The pair will put on blue-and-gold one finale time, this Sunday, March 27 at Springfield's Blake Arena at 1 p.m.
DeComo and DiCecco are the first Rams' duo to be selected for the event as Georgia Bourikas was the first-ever Suffolk student-athlete to participate in the game in 2018. Suffolk's co-captains account for half of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) student-athletes to be selected with Roger Williams seeing a twosome as well in Sam Mancinelli and Karli Opalka.
DeComo, who hails from Portsmouth, Rhode Island, wrapped up her collegiate career with her first all-league selection as she earned a spot on the CCC's third-team. The award came behind a season in which she swing player produced 10.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
DiCecco, meanwhile, put a bow on her Suffolk career that saw her rewrite the Rams' record books as the program's all-time leader in points (1,723), assists (542), steals (309) and field goals made (121). As a senior this season, the floor general from Falmouth, Massachusetts, racked up 13.5 points and 5.4 assists per game en route to her third all-league honor of her career. Additionally, she took home CCC Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring Suffolk's defensive unit with 3.3 steals and 5.0 rebounds per outing.
