Women’s Basketball Prepares for 2019-20 season

2019-20 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE

BOSTON – Suffolk women's basketball head coach Ed Leyden announced the Rams' 2019-20 schedules, Wednesday afternoon. The Rams will be tested against a tough non-conference slate that spans six conferences before competing in the GNAC one final time with Ram Nation getting the chance to cheer on the blue-and-gold at Smith Court 12 times.

The Rams' 37th season, 26th under Leyden's guidance, gets underway at the Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court Friday, Nov. 8 when Keene State stops by. Its right on the road the next day when Suffolk travels to Western New England for a matinee Saturday (Nov. 9) showdown.

It's another quick turnaround for the blue-and-gold with just two days rest from its trip to Springfield before a Beantown Battle Tuesday, Nov. 12 against its Boston Commons neighbor Emerson.

The see-saw home and away action continues to close out November with trips to Salve Regis (Nov. 20) and Curry (Nov. 26) sandwiching a home battle against Plymouth Saturday, Nov. 23.

December opens with back-to-back road tests at MASCAC foes Fitchburg State (Dec. 4) and Framingham State (Dec. 7), while Suffolk wraps up 2019 play on its home hardwood against Clark (Dec. 10) and Bridgewater State (Dec. 12).

An excursion to the Albany, New York, opens the blue-and-gold's New Year with a non-conference clash at Sage set for Saturday, Jan. 4.

Suffolk returns to Boston Thursday, Jan. 9 when it welcomes MIT to Beacon Hill before lifting the lid on its GNAC calendar two days later against St. Joseph (Conn.).

A Thursday, Jan. 16 tangle with Albertus Magnus concludes a three-match homestand that precedes a two-game road trip to Lasell (Jan. 18) and Anna Maria (Jan. 21).

The Rams step out of league action Saturday, Ja. 25 versus Wesleyan before visiting Johnson & Wales Wednesday, Jan. 29 for a midweek match.

Trips to Emmanuel (Feb. 1), Eastern Nazarene (Feb. 8) and Regis (Feb. 12) make up the majority of the first two weeks of February with a home game against Saint Joseph's (Maine Tuesday, Feb. 4 sprinkled in the stretch as well.

From there it's a pair of games in Ridgeway with Norwich (Feb. 15) and Colby Sawyer (Feb. 18) each stopping by Suffolk and and the regular season finale at Rivier Saturday, Feb. 22.

Leyden's roster brings back the dynamic duo of Jenni-Rose DiCecco and Alexis Hackett. The former has guided the Rams as the floor general for the past two seasons and paced the pack offensively with 17.0 ppg and 4.5 apg. Hackett, meanwhile, suits up in blue-and-gold one final time and looks to improve on her double-double output of 11.5 ppg and 11.4 rpg.
