BOSTON – The Suffolk women's basketball team begins its quest for GNAC glory Tuesday, Feb. 19 when the fourth-seeded Rams entertain the fifth-seeded AMCATs of Anna Maria in the conference quarterfinals. Tip-off in Regan Gymnasium is set for 5 p.m., and precedes Suffolk's men's quarterfinals clash with second-seed Saint Joseph (Conn.).

RAMS IN GNAC TOURNAMENT
Suffolk, who has never missed a league tournament since the conference's inaugural season in 1995-96, makes its 24th consecutive trip to the GNAC playoffs.  

The Rams are the field's fourth seed for the sixth time overall and first time since 2015-16. The blue-and-gold has advanced to the semifinal as the fourth seed three times, but has never made it to the championship. Suffolk is 3-5 in the league's tournament as the fourth seed.  

In 23 appearances, Suffolk has moved on to the semis 10 times and competed in the championship five times, including last season's title bout. 

DOUBLEFEATURE
Both Suffolk's basketball teams will compete in the friendly confines of Regan Gymnasium Tuesday night in the GNAC Quarterfinals marking the Rams' fourth doubleheader of 2018-19. The women are 1-2 when playing on the same day on the Larry E. Smith & Michael S. Smith Court, while the men are unbeaten, 3-0, in double features with the blue-and-gold's women. 

LAST TIME OUT
On its Senior Day, Albertus Magnus roared out of the locker room to outscore the Rams, 41-29, in the second half and spoil the Suffolk women's basketball season finale by a 68-62 decision Saturday afternoon at the Cosgrove Messer Marcus Athletic Center.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk slipped in back-to-back outings to wrap up regular-season action at 18-7 on the year and 9-3 action conference counterparts. 

Sophomore Jenni-Rose DiCecco has guided the Rams as the floor general spearheads the 66.8 ppg offense with 17.4 ppg of her own to go with 4.4 apg. She provides 5.9 rpg to the defense unit, which grabs 40.4 rpg and limits its opponents to 60.0 ppg.  

Marissa Gudauskasis a consistent contributor offensively with 9.5 ppg. Allie Lopes was a freshly added spark at the mid-season break. The transfer adds 9.4 ppg and 3.9 rpg, respectively. Jordan Hipwell chips in 8.6 ppg and 5.0 rpg. 

AMCATS ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Since meeting Suffolk Jan. 24, Anna Maria won five of its last six to end the regular season 10-15 overall and 7-5 in league action. 

A trio of players pace the AMCATs' 60.4 ppg offense in Amber Wilson (16.7 ppg), Amber Wilson (14.9 ppg) and Sienna Johnson (12.0 ppg).  

Defensively, Johanna Burke leads the way with 7.1 rpg with Amber Wilson adding 6.2 rpg to Anna Maria's 38.0 rpg performance.

  • Suffolk will meet Anna Maria in the GNAC Postseason for the first time. 

WE MEET AGAIN
Suffolk women's basketball kept it win streak intact Jan. 24 as the Rams' well-balanced team effort was enough to take down Anan Maria, 87-61, inside Regan Gymnasium.
