Women’s Basketball Takes Down Framingham State, 76-63

BOSTON – Four different Rams recorded double figures as Suffolk women's basketball cruised past Framingham State, 76-63, Saturday afternoon at Regan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk broke open a 9-all time with a pair of 8-0 runs sandwiched around a Framingham State timeout to grab a 25-9 lead after the first 10 minutes.  

Suffolk's scoring continued into the second stanza as the host Rams outscored the visiting Rams 8-2 in the first two minutes to in front by 21, 33-12, and forced FSU to use its second timeout of the day. 

The blue-and-gold did not take its foot off the gas pedal the rest of the way as it built a 47-24 cushion at intermission.  

The Rams momentum was present throughout the second half and a 64-44 third-quarter advantage turned into a 76-63 Suffolk final.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • DiCecco paced the quartet of Rams in double figures with a 23-point effort on an 8-for-17 performance from the field and a 6-for-9 showing from three-point range. The floor general also contributed six boards, five helpers and two steals.
  • Hipwell shot 50 percent (5-10) from the floor on the day to finish with 12 points to go along with six rebounds, two helpers and one swat. 
  • Alexis Hackett had an all-around game with 12 caroms, 10 points, six blocks, four dimes and a pair of takeaways. 
  • Marissa Gudauskas completed the foursome in double figures with 11 points behind a 4-for-7 showing from the floor and a 3-for-5 effort from behind-the-arc. 
  • As a team the Rams shot 44.3 percent from the floor (27-61), 55.6 percent from downtown and 87.5 percent from the foul line. 
  • FSU outrebound Suffolk by a 44-37 margin.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk improved to 22-4 all-time versus Framingham State. 
  • The Rams rattled off their second straight wins versus FSU. 
  • DiCecco kept her double figure streak going, scoring double digits in each of Suffolk's 10 games this season. 
  • DiCecco had her second straight 20-plus point outcome and sixth game with 20 or more points this season. 
  • Hackett produced her 19th career double-double and fourth double-double effort of the year. 
  • Hackett notched a career-high six blocks.
