Hackett Does It Again, Earns Sixth GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – Alexis Hackett of the Suffolk women's basketball team has been named GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week following a 1-1 week for the Rams against Johnson & Wales and St. Joseph (Conn.) the league office announced Monday.

Hackett is the most decorated Rams freshman in recent history with six conference weekly accolades and being named the best rookie over a seven day stretch by the NEWBA twice. Hackett's honor brings the Rams' weekly award total to eight on the year, the most in the GNAC, with Katelyn Rourke grabbing best rookie nods on two occasions.

The Charlton, Massachusetts native, finished the week averaging 7.5 ppg and 4.0 rpg, while shooting 40.0 percent from the field and put together a 5-for-6 showing from the line. On Thursday, she registered seven points and added five boards in a 54-49 setback at Johnson & Wales. Off the bench Saturday afternoon in a decisive 68-46 victory over St. Joseph (Conn.), the forward tallied eight points on a 2-for-3 connection rate to go with three boards and one handout.

Suffolk remains on home for the week as it entertains Lasell Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. before welcoming in Saint Joseph's (Maine) for a 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4.
