Hackett Collects Second GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week

BOSTON – For the third straight week, the GNAC Corvias Rookie of the Week hails from the Suffolk women's basketball team Alexis Hackett earned the honor thanks to averaging 13.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 4.0 apg in a 2-0 week for the Rams the league office announced Monday afternoon. 

To open the week, the freshman forward registered 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals to help the Rams to their thrilling 61-60 win over Johnson & Wales. She matched career-highs in points (11) and assists (5) in the victory and set a new career-best in takeaways (2). 

Against Curry, which was a 79-58 triumph for the Rams, Hackett set a new personal-best in points with a team-high 16 thanks to a 5-for-6 performance rom the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 effort from behind on the arc. She added five boards, four steals and three assists to her stat line. 

The award marks the second of Hackett's career and second in three weeks for the rookie. The accolade also marks the third for the blue and gold this season and in as many weeks with Hackett's classmate Katelyn Rourke being named the best rookie over a seven day stretch last week. 

Hackett and Suffolk return to action in their 2016 finale when they visit Clark Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.
