BOSTON – In its home opener, the Suffolk women's basketball team suffered a 61-50 setback as Framingham State kept its unbeaten streak in tact Saturday afternoon inside Regan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Alexandra Nagri put the ball in for the Suffolk Rams on the first possession of the game before a see-saw game ensued. Suffolk would take a 9-6 edge, but Framingham quickly responded to take its own 10-9 lead. The blue and gold Rams outscored FSU 5-4 down the stretch to lead by one, 14-13, after the first 10 minutes.
The visitors opened the second stanza with a 7-0 stretch that gave them a 20-14 cushion with 8:40 to go before intermission. FSU did not relinquish the advantage as it went on to take a 28-19 lead at the midway point. Georgia Bourikas sparked a last run before the break for the hosts, as they went on 7-2 spur to cut the deficit to just three, 34-31, at the intermission.
The Suffolk Rams continued to roll out of the break as Alexandra Clarke's layup made it a one-point game. Framingham did not let the Suffolk Rams get any closer, however, as the visitors rebuilt a comfortable led that they held for the majority of the third.
Suffolk found itself in a double-digit deficit to open the fourth and could not climb out of the hole as FSU went on to take the non-conference contest, 61-50.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Caitlyn Caramello made the most of her first start of the season with the junior pacing Suffolk's offense with 12 points, shooting 3-for-5 from the floor, 2-for-3 from long range and 4-for-6 from the line. The forward put together a double-double effort as well with 12 rebounds, including 11 on the defensive end.
NOTEABLES
- Caramello recorded her second double-double of the year and fourth of her collegiate career.
- Clarke contributed nine points, eight boards and one block.
- Bourikas also added nine points to go along with three caroms and two handouts.
- Collectively, Suffolk struggled from the field, shooting 31 percent and 27.3 percent from beyond the arc. The Rams' 61.5 connection rate at the charity stripe kept them in the contest.
- Framingham held a slim advantage on the glass, 45-41.
- Thanks to 15 steals, FSU turned Suffolk's 31 turnovers into 15 points.
