Campellone Nabs GNAC Corvias Player of the Week Honor

BOSTON – Chelsea Campellone picked up her second GNAC Corvias Player of the Week honor on Monday after putting together back-to-back double-double performance to lead the Rams in to wins over Pine Manor and at Simmons.  

Campellone went for 19 points Thursday night as Suffolk knocked off Pine Manor, 84-62. In just 18 minutes of action the senior shot 8-of-16 from the field and 3-of-7 at the line, while grabbing 15 boards and blocking one shot. On Saturday, she netted 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in the Rams' 65-52 win at Suffolk.  

This marks the second GNAC Player of the Week honor for Campellone this season the the third for the Rams. She previously received the award December 14 after averaging 27.0 ppg and 15.0 rpg in a 2-1 week for the Rams.

Campellone currently ranks second in the GNAC in rebounds at 10.8 rpg and is 10th in points (13.8 ppg). The 5-foot-7 forward has registered six double-doubles on the year and led the Rams in scoring six times and rebounds on seven occasions.

Chelsea Campellone has been a consistent figure for Suffolk on both ends of the hardwood this season. The senior ranks among the GNAC leaders in several statistical categories including rebounds (10.8 – 2nd), points per 40 minutes (24.1 – 2nd), and points per game (13.8 – 10th). The 5-foot-7 forward has registered six double-doubles on the year, led the Rams in scoring six times and rebounds on seven occasions.

The Rams and Campellone are back in action Tuesday, Jan. 12 when they visit Curry for a 5:30 p.m. non-conference contest.
