BOSTON – Chelsea Campellone's career night led the Suffolk women's basketball team past Clark, 74-66, Tuesday night at Regan Gymnasium.

Campellone went 9-of-20 from the floor and was perfect 6-of-6 from the line to tally a game-high 24 points. The senior forward, who grabbed 13 rebounds for her third double-double of the season, led a trio of Rams in double figures as junior Kelsey Schiebel and sophomore Alexandra Nagri provided 16 and 11, respectively. As a team, Suffolk (5-3) shot 41.3 percent from the floor, 74.l1 percent from the line and outrebounded Clark (2-7), 54-44.

Sam O'Gara led the Cougars with 17 points with Aretha Sullivan (14 points) and Ogechi Ezemma (10 points) also pitching in double digits.

Suffolk jumped out to a 9-2 edge less than two minutes action, before Clark crawled back within one, 14-13, on a traditional and-one from Gwyneth Ivory. Five unanswered points gave the Rams a 19-13 that blossomed into a 25-16 lead just 15 seconds before the first 10 minutes expired.

After O'Gara put in five points for the Cougars, Suffolk scored eight straight to push its lead to double figures, 33-21, with 4:27 left in the second stanza. O'Gara struck on a triple in an attempt to strike a comeback for the Cougars, but the Rams' took a 12-point lead into the locker rooms, 36-24.

Suffolk shot 40.6 percent (13-32) from the field over the first 20 minutes and posted a 40.0 percent (2-5) connection rate from long range. Campellone, who led all scorers with 10 points, was on the cusps of a double-double as the forward pulled down seven of the Rams' 29 boards. Clark was held to a 25.0 shooting percentage (10-40) from the floor and shot 11.1 percent (1-9) from downtown. O'Gara was the threat behind the Cougars' offense scoring eight points.

Out of intermission, the Rams maintained their advantage in the third quarter and led by as many as 14 at the midway point. and led by as many as 14 with 5:41 to go in the third quarter. A comeback did not come, however, with Haley Wilder's good jumper with six seconds remaining in the third getting things going.

Using Wilder's bucket as momentum, the Cougars outscored the Rams, 16-4, to pull within three. Suffolk steered its way out of full-court pressure and connected when it counted at the line to hold on for the 74-66 victory.

Suffolk continues its home stretch with a Saturday, Dec. 12 showdown with Wentworth at 1 p.m.
