Rams Drop Trailblazers 65-52

The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team picked up their second win in as many days with a 65-52 victory over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Thursday evening.

Junior Shelby Santini (Winchester, Mass.) paced Suffolk with a 15-point effort on the evening as the Rams improve to a 15-9 overall mark on the season.
Senior Kaitlyn Chenevert (Uxbridge, Mass.) led all scorers on the evening with 19 points for the Trailblazers on an 8-for-16 performance from the floor. The loss drops MCLA to a 4-20 overall mark on the year as Thursday's setback was their 13th consecutive loss on the season.
An early 8-0 Suffolk run midway through the first half capped by a layup by junior Iliana Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) would give the Rams a 14-10 at the 11:20 mark. Suffolk would hold onto the lead for the remainder of the contest.  The Rams would space themselves out more through the first half as the put together a 16-2 run in a five minute span which helped them take a 36-27 lead heading into halftime.
Senior Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) added 11 points on the evening for Suffolk, while sophomore Chelsea Campellone (Fall River, Mass.) chipped in with 10 off the bench.
Freshmen Kayla Hotaling (Ravena, N.Y.) recorded a double-double on the evening as she scored 11 points and led all players with 13 rebounds. Fellow classmate Braileigh Hanlon (Wynantskill, N.Y.) also scored 11 points in the contest.
Suffolk held a 46-34 edge in rebounds in the contest as Campellone also finished the evening with the double-double with a team-high 10 rebounds.
Both teams will round out their 2013-14 regular seasons at home on Saturday afternoon. MCLA will host conference foe Salem State University beginning at 12:00pm. Suffolk hosts Norwich in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup beginning at 1:00pm.
