Women's Basketball Win Fourth Straight

The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team won their fourth straight game as they defeated the St. Joseph's College Monks in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Thursday evening, 60-49.

Sophomore Tori Brillaud (North Andover, Mass.) recorded her first career double-double while junior Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) collected her third in as many conference games to pace the Rams who improve to a 11-4 mark on the year and 3-0 record in GNAC play.

Ruys led all scorers with 19 points, collecting 12 rebounds to lead the Rams, while Brillaud led all players on the glass with 15 boards and 11 points.

Senior Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) scored all 13 of her game's points in the second half that helped lift the Rams after a slow start offensively in the first half. The Rams went into the break with a 24-22 lead and open the half with an 11-2 run over the first four minutes to give themselves an 11-point lead.

Freshman Morgan Cahill (Yarmouth, Me.) finished the game with a team-high 12 points for the Monks who fall to an 8-7 mark on the year and 2-2 record in league play.

Senior Danyelle Shufelt (Sutton, Vt.) added 11 points in the loss for the Monks.

Suffolk held a 52-42 edge on the glass in the contest as they held a 19-10 edge in second chance points.

St. Joseph's College will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host Anna Maria College at 1:00pm in GNAC action. Suffolk will travel to Norwich University on Monday for a 5:30pm tipoff with the Cadets in GNAC action.
