Rogers Leads Women's Basketball to Season Opening Win

The Suffolk University Women's Basketball team opened the 2012-13 season with a 55-45 victory over Mt. St. Vincent in the 2012 Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Ramapo College.

Senior Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) led all scorers with 16 points on a 6-for-11 performance from the field, while junior Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) added 14 points to help pace the Rams.

Rogers scored 11 points in the first half that was highlighted by a 12-0 Suffolk runway midway through the period which allowed the Rams to take a ten-point, 31-21 edge into the break.

Suffolk would manage to keep their distance throughout the course of the second half as they built their largest lead of the contest, a 20-point margin with 6:26 remaining on a layup by sophomore Tori Brillaud (North Andover, Mass.).

The Rams finished the game shooting 36.5-percent from the field (23-for-63) and held a 50-35 edge on the glass.

Senior Jacqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) led all players with 10 rebounds and also seven assists.

Suffolk will now advance to Saturday's championship game against host Ramapo at 3:00pm.
