Vienneau Powers Suffolk Win With Big Second Half over Emerson

Junior Jaqueline Vienneau (Salem, N.H.) scored 25 points, tallied seven assists and collected six rebounds to lead the Suffolk University Rams (15-7, 8-3 GNAC) past the Emerson College Lions (7-16, 5-8 GNAC) on Tuesday evening, 68-55 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Vienneau was 9-for-13 from the field, including a 3-for-5 performance from beyond the arc as the 25 points is a new career-high. With the victory the Rams improve to an 8-3 record in GNAC play and a 15-7 overall mark on the season.

Emerson would take a 25-23 lead into the break as both teams would exchange baskets over the first six minutes of the second half. Through the first 24 minutes of play, the game would be tied on 10 different occasions with six different lead changes.

Vienneau would connect on a three-pointer with 14:32 remaining to put Suffolk up 34-33 as she took a feed from senior Mary Garon (Auburn, N.H.) and the Rams would not relinquish the lead from that point on.

Freshman Iliana Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) scored nine of her 11 points in the contest in the second half, while junior Lindsey Rogers (Gloucester, Mass.) added eight points over the final twenty minutes. Rogers essentially sealed the fate of the Lions as she connected on four free-throws in a row after drawing a technical foul on Emerson with forty-seven seconds remaining.

Vienneau was the difference in the second half however as she helped cap a 9-2 run by the Rams scoring seven of her half's 16 points in a two-minute stretch to finally give the Rams a 10-point lead, 51-41 at the 8:04 mark.

Freshman Kristin Brice (Indiana, Pa.) and sophomore Olivia Connors (Windham, N.H.) each recorded double-doubles in the game for the Lions. Brice scored 19 points and led all rebounders with 12 boards, while Connors chipped in with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Suffolk will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as the host Anna Maria College at the Regan Gymnasium at 1:00pm.
