Megan Cook was announced as Suffolk softball’s newest head coach in September 2023 and begins her first season with the Rams in 2024.

Cook brought her talents to Beantown after a one-year stint at Saint Anselm where she served as the Hawks’ Compliance Coordinator and assistant softball coach. 

Although Suffolk is Cook’s first collegiate head coaching role, it will not be her first stop on a Division III staff.  

Prior to her time at Saint A’s, Cook was an assistant coach at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for the 2022 campaign. In Cambridge, she helped the team to a 32-18 record that included a trip to the NCAA DIII Tournament and an appearance in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title tilt. With the Engineers, Cook mentored the team’s pitchers on top of practice plans and recruiting at several high-level showcase tournaments. 

From 2019-20, Cook spent two seasons at Regis as a graduate assistant for the Pride’s softball program. Away from the diamond, she worked in the athletic department as well as the assistant varsity equipment manager.  

Cook’s coaching resume also includes an assistant coaching role for Raiders Softball, a youth travel softball organization where she has worked with the 16U National Team.  

On top of her coaching experience, Cook has an extensive background in strength and conditioning. She has served as a Strength and Conditioning Intern at Regis and was a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at UMass Lowell. With the River Hawks, she assisted with the development of their programming for the men’s lacrosse program, while also assisting with track & field student-athletes as a secondary responsibility. She is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. 

As a player, Cook was a standout at Merrimack. As a senior in 2018 she earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Third-Team All-America honors after capturing D2CCA East Region Pitcher of the Year and NE10 Pitcher of the Year plaudits – she finished with 25 wins that season with a 1.39 ERA in 39 games. 

Over her collegiate career, she notched 43 career victories in the circle with 46 complete games across 67 starts and a career ERA of 2.07. Offensively, she hit over .300 and racked up 42 hits in 111 plate appearances as a senior, producing a .378 batting average, while driving in 25 runs.  

Cook graduated with her Bachelor of Science in sports medicine from Merrimack in 2018 and went on to earn a pair of master’s degrees – Master of Science in Health Administration from Regis in 2020 and a Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science from Merrimack a year later.
