Jacob’s Arm Anchors Softball to 1-0 Win Over Gordon in Game 1

WENHAM, Mass. – Jenny Jacob twirled four-hit, no-walk, six-strikeout, complete-game shutout to anchor Suffolk softball to a 1-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory over Gordon Sunday afternoon at the Fighting Scots Softball Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Gordon 0
RECORDS: Suffolk (11-4, 3-0 CCC) | Gordon (9-9-1, 0-3 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Caitlin Murphy opened the Rams' offense with a triple to left center. The lead-off batter beat out the throw at the plate when Ava Brandow put the ball into the play towards second base. The fielder's choice put the blue-and-gold on the board early 1-0.

Thankfully Suffolk scored in that first inning as the game turned to the pitcher's hands from there. Both Jacob and Mara Little limited offensive opportunities for the remainder of the outing.

Jacob had three shutdown innings including a game-clinching seventh. The junior right-handed pitcher allowed just three base runners for the rest of the game.

Little, meanwhile, kept the blue-and-gold bats quiets in a pair of innings over the next five in which she restricted the Rams to just four base runners, three on hits and one on a Gordon error.
