White Tabbed GNAC Rookie of the Week

White Tabbed GNAC Rookie of the Week

WINTRHOP, Mass. – Suffolk softball's Alexa White garnered GNAC Rookie of the Week honors after a standout two-way effort over three games, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

White, a freshman from Taunton, Massachusetts, put together a 1.08 ERA over 13.0 innings, was perfect from the field in her four total chances, and laid down perfectly placed sac bunts in her two trips to the plate to be the conference's first top rookie over a seven day stretch in 2020. She is the first Ram to take home the nod since Caitlin Murphy did so April 22, 2019.

In the circle, she began her campaign with a six-hit, two-run, three-strikeout performance over 5.1 innings in the season debut against Montclair State. A game later she came in for the last two outs, one of which was a K, to keep Suffolk in a two-run game with Trinity Texas. Her true highlight reel showing came in a complete-game effort versus Alfred. The righty tossed a complete-game, three-hit, one-walk, eight-punchout shutout to anchor the blue-and-gold to its first victory of the season. In that win over the Saxon, she contributed a pair of sac bunts, one of which aided in the game-winning run.

White and Suffolk are back in action in Florida tomorrow, Tuesday, March 10 when they compete against Westfield State and Geneva.
