LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk softball hung with Brandeis in the first three innings until the Judges jumped ahead 10-5 en route to a 15-6, five-inning victory over the Rams in the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader at Marcus Field.

RAMS RUNDOWN
After being swept in five frames in the doubleheader at Brandeis, Suffolk moved to 6-8 on the season.  

Caitlin Murphy has been a light in Suffolk's lineup as the centerfielder hits .410 and slugs .513 for an on-base percentage of .478. The freshman has seven RBI and eight runs on 16 hits, three of which went for extra bases. Constance Phelan (.364, 8H, 3RBI), Ashley Zulla (.344, 11H, 7 RBI, 3R) and Brianna Loughlin (.333, 4H) all provided sparks for the Rams at the dish.  

Phelan has proven to be the most consistent arm for Suffolk. The sophomore has worked 26.2 innings, allowing 39 hits, 19 earned runs and fanned 14 batters. Kennedy Reyes is a go-to for the Rams in the circle. The rookie has taken the rubber for 29.1 frames in which she gave up 22 earned runs on 37 hits and sat down a staff-best 17 hitters.

COLONELS CATCHUP
Curry has won three of its last four including a doubleheader split with Salem State March 25 to head into Thursday's tilt 8-6 on the year.  

Taylor Newcomb's .409 bat goes along with an on-base percentage of .451 and. A slugging percentage of .432 to lead the Colonels' impressive 132-hit offense that has scored 122 runs. The sophomore has produced 18 hits of her own to bring in 13 runs and score eight herself. Michaela Colleran, who is hitting just under .400 at .396, has provided a team-high 18 hits and 17 runs scored with 15 RBI to her credit. 

Three different twirlers have seen significant time for Curry. Carrigan Costello is the Colonels' go-to in the circle. The sophomore has put together a 4.27 ERA over 42.2 innings with 60 hits and 13 walks allowed with 13 strikeouts. Newcomb boasts a staff-best 3.94 ERA over 21.2 frames with 17 punchouts to her credit. Allison May rounds out the staff with a 5.44 ERA in 27.0 innings and 14 Ks.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk is undefeated all-time versus Roger Williams, 3-0.
  • The Rams will take on the Hawks for the first time under Jaclyn Davis' guidance and first since 2004.
  • The blue-and-gold has put up 10 runs in all three meetings with Roger Williams.
